Thomas Girard Cook of Denton, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the UM Mid-Shore Medical Center in Easton, MD. He was 68 years old.
Born in Ridgway, PA, Tom was the son of the late Robert Eugene Cook and Rosemarie DePrator Cook. He graduated from Ridgway High School in 1967, earned his B.S. in Biology from Slippery Rock University in 1971, and his Masters of Education from Salisbury University in 1978.
Tom was a biology teacher at Elk County Christian (Catholic) High School in St. Mary’s, PA, before moving to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1975. At Easton High School, he taught Biology and coached wrestling, football, and track. In addition, he served as athletic director for Easton High School and Outdoor Education Coordinator for Talbot County Public Schools. In the latter capacity, he negotiated the use of Pickering Creek for outdoor education for Talbot County students.
Tom was an adjunct professor at Chesapeake College for over 10 years. He taught Biology at both the Dorchester campus and the Wye Mills campus.
A loving and devoted husband and father, Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Constance Foley Cook, of Denton; a daughter, Keeley Mary-Paige Cook, of Staunton, VA; and a son, Brandon Girard Cook and his fiancée, Emily Beugelmans, of Albany, CA. He is preceded in death by two sisters: Sandra Schneider and Darla Lewis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 12 noon on Saturday, February 3rd, at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church on Central Avenue in Ridgely, MD. Friends may visit with the family from 11 to 12 before the service. The interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
